Long-range shooting requires accuracy, precision and reliable tools. The Burris Eliminator V is a top of the line precision optics that offers all these features and more. It comes with an array of advanced features such as built-in rangefinder, inclinometer, smart dope card and waterproof properties – making it perfect for long-range shooting. The Eliminator significantly increases any hunter’s capabilities in the bush.
Not only that but it also has a lifetime warranty from Burris Optics to ensure its durability in any situation you may encounter. With this scope at your side, you can be sure to hit your target every time.
We recently tried out the Eliminator V, which, we’ve found to be a significant upgrade over the previous models. Whether you’re hunting deer from a stand or simply plunking cans, you will shoot better. On top of the upgrade, the costs between the older 3 and 4 aren’t crazy either. Yes, you’ll typically spend about $500 more for the Eliminator 5, but that’s not much considering how much more scope you get for your buck.
Before we do the complete deep-dive into this high powered optic, here’s a quick overview of what the Eliminator V brings to the table.

The Burris Eliminator 5 truly takes hunting to the next level.
Features of the Burris Eliminator 5
This feature-packed rifle scope is one of the most advanced optics systems we’ve come across. Burris optics has taken long-range hunting to the next level with features packed into this optical system. When you absolutely need complete situational awareness, the Eliminator 5 has you covered. Whether you’re targeting blacktail deer or even elk, you’ll be dialed in.
Rangefinding capabilities.
One of the best features of the Eliminator 5, and also probably our favorite, is the powerful laser rangefinder. With a maximum range of 2000 yards, it makes it easy to accurately and quickly calculate distances with no guesswork.
We tested the range finding on the Eliminator V and noted that it was accurate within ± 1 yard. We took ours out to 1,900 yards (that was as far as we could get while having an accurate range) and it was spot on.
Smart DOPE Card.
The smart dope card is an internal digital inclinometer that keeps track of all your shooting information for quick reference. It tracks windage, elevation and angle of incline, allowing you to make split second adjustments in changing conditions.
While this is a great feature, it really is for the advanced users. It took us around 15 minutes of playing with the settings to really understand how it was working.
Wireless Bluetooth remote.
The Eliminator 5 comes with a Bluetooth remote for easy use. With this remote you can access all the features of the riflescope without ever having to touch it, making it easy to control your aim even when hunting from a distance.
X96 reticle and zoom features.
When you’re shopping for the best optical system for your rifle, you want precision optics that won’t let you down. The X96 reticle and 5-20x zoom features of the Eliminator 5 provide crisp, clear images for accurate shooting every time. You’ll be able to hit your exact aiming point with ease with the x96 reticle.
We used the Burris Eliminator III, which we absolutely love, but the Eliminator V takes the cake. They’ve improved the magnification range and increased optical clarity with upgraded glass.
The 5-20 magnification range, combined with the X96 reticle will allow you to see your target in even the farthest of distances. Now you take the range finding capability with this reticle and zoom, and you have one advanced optic.
Weatherproof construction with no parallax distortion
Having used the Burris Eliminator 5 myself, I can confidently say it is an ideal choice for any hunter. Sure, the price tag might seem like something only the pros would use, but it has the durability to stand up even to the most novice of hunters.
It is designed to be weatherproof and durable, with high-quality construction that resists corrosion, wear and shock. The laser rangefinder and precise alignment technology eliminates parallax distortion for precise readings and aiming points even at longer ranges. Its waterproof seal ensures that the scope will remain dry in wet conditions. With its rugged design and advanced features, the Eliminator 5 offers reliable performance for any hunt.
Mount to any rifle.
Whether you’re shooting with a bolt-action rifle or an AR-style rifle, the Eliminator 5’s quick-detach mounting system makes it easy to attach your scope onto almost any type of gun. This allows you to switch between guns quickly and easily without having to perform complicated setup procedures each time.
This new Eliminator includes long range mounts with both weaver style and picatinny base compatibility. This makes it a great choice for the hunter who wants one scope that can be used on multiple guns.
Tips for getting the most out of your Burris Eliminator 5
Even after just reading the features on the box it arrived in made us believe it was an effective hunting riflescope, but once we unboxed it and learned to use it, we were convinced it’s the best riflescope in the world!
With that, these are just a few tips we’d recommend to get the most out of this great scope.
Adjusting rangefinder settings to your preferences.
When you first set up the scope make sure you take some time to adjust the built-in laser rangefinder settings. This will allow you to customize the unit for your particular preferences, and will give you better accuracy when making shots at long distances. We were blown away by how accurately the distance to the target was calculated even in the dark. We’ve noticed even separate rangefinders are not as accurate as this built-in laser rangefinder.
Practice using the reticle and zoom features.
The Eliminator 5’s X96 reticle and 5-20x zoom features will give you the advantage when it comes to precise aiming. Take some time to practice using these features, as they can make a huge difference in your success rate. The proven x96 reticle displays plenty of information and displays the exact aiming point and wind data that you need for accurate shooting. It can take some getting used to before using it in the wild.
Perform regular maintenance and cleaning.
Yes, this is one of the most durable precision optics we’ve ever used, but it still needs some TLC from time to time.
Regular maintenance of your optics is essential for optimal performance. Make sure that all lenses are free from dirt and debris, and that all adjustments are kept in order. This will ensure that you get the most out of your Eliminator V.
Be sure to check your zero regularly.
Even if you don’t use the scope often, it’s important that you check its zero from time to time. This will make sure that your rifle is still accurate and ready for use. What we’ve found is that it holds a zero really, really good, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check it.
Exploring windage, parallax and other adjustments.
Our last tip is to make sure you are familiar with the scope’s windage, parallax and other adjustments.
Having a good understanding of these features will help you get the most accuracy out of your rifle. It may take some practice, but once you’ve got it down you’ll be able to maximize the performance of your Eliminator 5 no matter the conditions.
How does the Eliminator V compare to the Eliminator III and IV?
The Burris Eliminator line of scopes is designed to make hunting more efficient and productive. Each iteration advances the features and capabilities of the previous one.
The Eliminator III has a rangefinder with 1,200+ yards ranging capability, and also combines precision optics with an internal digital inclinometer, and a smart dope card. Additionally, it offers excellent field-of-view (25 feet at 100 yards to 9 feet at 100 yards) and exit pupil (10.5 millimeters to 3.5 millimeters), as well as a 50-inch maximum adjust at 100 yards and a 13-inch length. Weighing just 26 ounces, this scope is lightweight yet highly accurate.
The Eliminator IV builds upon this by extending the range finding capability to 2,000 yards, enhancing the ballistic calculator with faster aiming solutions for even greater accuracy, as well as wireless remote laser activation for quick target acquisition.
Finally, the latest generation of optics from Burris is the Eliminator V. the Eliminator V takes precision long-range shooting up another notch with Bluetooth Remote Activation for quick use from any angle and improved 5-20X magnification in clear glass optics for enhanced accuracy out to 2000 yards. It has all of the features you expect from an Eliminator scope including precision optics, an internal digital inclinometer, a smart dope card and built in laser range finder.

The Eliminator series is some of the best scopes I’ve ever used. I’ve only tried the III and IV, haven’t tried the V yet but it’s on my list.
